In the Bible we are told the true story of a man who loved the Lord with his whole heart. His name was Job, and we are told that he was ‘blameless and upright, fearing God and staying away from evil’. He was a very rich man and considered the greatest man among the people of the East.

Because he was a man who loved and honored the Lord, Satan wanted to prove that Job only loved the Lord because he had been blessed by much wealth. God allowed Job to experience the test to give us courage and hope in our walk on this earth. But evidently Job had a problem with the "big 3" because in Job 3:25 we read:

"What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me."

Fear always expects the worst outcome and also produces in kind as we see in verse 26:

"I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil."

Of course we can’t fault Job for this. He was a human being struggling in the same way that we struggle in similar experiences. The encouraging part is that whenever bad news came to him, he fell to the ground in worship and said:

"Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised." (Job 3:26)

Job knew the secret. He trusted God so much, that no matter what happened, he could honestly praise Him because He was confident of God’s love for him. That’s a secret we’re safe to imitate. God’s love for you is no less. Listen to what He says:

"Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold (support) you with my righteous right hand." (Isaiah 41:10)

If God has commanded us not to fear or be anxious and we choose to hang onto those areas, we must then call anxiety, fear and worry by their correct name: SIN. It is a sin to tell our God that we do not and will not trust Him nor believe what He tells us. We can trust this Father who calls us his ‘sons and daughters’. His perfect love will get rid of all our fears.

"And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love … There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The man who fears is not made perfect in love." (1 John 4:16, 18)

God’s plan for us is to be FREE from the "fear" that gets in the way of our spiritual growth and our fellowship with the people around us. Let's see what His plan looks like by clicking onto the next link.
